The Way I Live… [7-24-2012]

The Way I Live… makes me say holy schnikies… not sure how to spell that but you can sound it out.  It has been 10 days since I blogged.  Not good people… not good.

I haven’t been taking my meds regularly.  That is my confession and I will do better this week.  I must!

I missed a few workouts for various reasons.  Not going into detail and maybe I already did, I don’t read my own blog so how would I know.

I just linked on to another blog and am anxious to see if I get more hits this week.

Golf tournament is in the books.  Was a fun time.  Even the planning meetings and all that were a good time.  Looking forward to being done for awhile and most importantly looking forward to writing some check so to local charities.  Super favorite thing about the golf tournament for me.

The kids are doing great.  The big girls are driving me bananas with the swimming pool thing.  “Can we go to the pool,” is the question I hear day in and day out.  Emma can tell time so that doesn’t help me with my fabrications of the truth regarding when it opens and closes.

I will be departing for Colorado on Thursday and I am very excited… except for… my body hurts in so many places right now.  Guess what… haven’t been taking my medication and vitamins.  Going to get on that and see if it changes things.  I have been moody some but not too bad (at least I don’t think)… you could as Trevor and Chad and they would be more honest.

I think I am going to quickly do my Just for Today list and hit the hay.  All the girls are sleeping and I have to work tomorrow.  And… I am getting up to go for a run.  Tried to go for a small healthy walk type thing with my girls tonight and there were several interruptions that stopped us along the way including a lost boy (who was actually in his own front yard), talking to my sister and her kids, and most importantly a lightning storm.  So, going to try again tomorrow.  Two more days left on my 9 week program that I was doing.  So excited to be this close to finishing something in my life.  Going to do it again when I am back from the Denver trip to get myself all evened out and then will move on to a bigger program so I can run the marathon relay we have planned in September.

Just for Today
1.  Enjoyed my walk with the girls
2.  Work was nice this morning… got to see Jodi.
3.  Ice pack helped my shoulder (a little) still hurts a little.
4.  Water filter is changed on the RO machine.  Can’t wait for clear ice cubes.
5.  Trevor picked up the living room and vacuumed.  Looks good.

So… until tomorrow or another day…

Onward!

The Way I Live… the lost post [7-14-12]

The Way I Live means sometimes… my posts get eaten by the computer.  I was so excited the other day.  Writing and writing when suddenly my computer started to act funny.  Yep, a program that was pretending to be Live Writer (the application I use to blog) was doing horrible things.  I ended up having to shut the computer down and like an idiot… forgot to try to save first.

I had written about the week, linked to all sorts of sites that were important in the planning of the coming weeks and just felt good about my post.  Well, it is gone.  Let it go Robin… Let it go!

I am going to be honest and say I haven’t been running like I should. My body and I just don’t agree on feeling good.  Working on feeling better at my favorite chiropractic place on the planet…Bachmeier Chiropractic.  Dixie has been working on me since the January and while many of my DAILY aches and pains have gone away, there are some issues with my knees, my back and a few other things that plague me while I work out and at other times.  I love the techniques she uses and come away from each appointment feeling awesome.

The blog may be a bit splotchy the coming weeks.  I am incredibly busy and need to be honest about that.  I am currently working on the final planning of a golf tournament that happens each year in Bowman.  Sometime this year, I was put ‘in charge’ so to speak of the board.  One of those times in life when I am not certain, but I may have been roped into something.  I am really enjoying it and it gives Chad and I something in common.  Oddly, we have found after 10 years of marriage, we really don’t have as much in common as we thought.  If you want to check out info on the tournament it is on July 20 and 21st.  We take 120 golfers and I am currently sitting with 5 people on a waiting list. It is exciting to me because we work hard to provide a fun weekend but more importantly (to me) we give money back to our community.

This weekend is the Bowman County Fair.  I’m not a huge fair going person (unless The Johnny Holm Band is playing), but I do like to take in the 4-H auction (my dad sells it) each year if I can and we ride on a fire truck in the parade.  Our county fair does not have a carnival which is both a blessing and a curse.  The kids would love it, but I would not want to stand in the heat for hours so I’m good with it either way.

In 2 weeks, I will be going to Colorado.  I am super excited to be participating in the Shape Diva Dash with one of my best friends in the world, Sarah, and many new friends that I met while in Colorado last fall.  The event is on Saturday and then Sunday and Monday we will be attending fundraisers for Team Gleason.  We will be golfing at Golffest 2012 to raise money to help those affected by ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis).  My friend, Keri Doolittle, a crazy-talented photographer in the Denver area invited me down to support her brother’s organization.  Steve Gleason and his wife are an amazing example of a couple who will not stop fighting to help others even though their lives are turned upside down by a debilitating disease.  Check out the Team Gleason link to hear Steve’s story.  If you think you recognize his name… you might.  He is a former New Orlean’s Saints football player and was featured in several stories during this years football season (including the Super Bowl).

When I get back there will only be a few weeks before school starts back again for my girls.  Emma in 2nd grade and Olivia starting kindergarten.  Sort of crazy.

I have no idea what the original post supposed to have for a ‘point’ but I am happy that I shared my links with you for some cool sites.  Check them out and don’t hold your breath for my next post.  I will try but who knows how that will work out.

Oh, a site I keep forgetting to tell you to read… www.touchingyourheart.net Jodi is over there sharing some stories about her journey to feeling better as well.  Check it out!  You won’t regret it.

Just for Today
1.  Enjoyed sleeping in for a LONG time today.  Ahhhh.
2.  Watched my Dad sell the 4H sale at the county fair today. Love to see that each year!
3.  Got an email from Brazil.  Love keeping in touch with Mom’s friend Gabi.
4.  My neighbor made me the most delicious popcorn today.  Nice surprise.  Thanks Jodi!
5.  No Coke for me since sometime in April… shocking to me… completely shocking that it has been this long.

I will be calling Dixie first thing Monday to get my knees worked on some more.

Onward!

The Way I Live [7-11-12]

The Way I Live my life sometimes makes me wonder.  Have you ever had one of those days.  Well, today was Wacky Wednesday for sure.

Went to work and cut myself on glass, then paper cut myself while trying to open the band-aid.  Nice!  Some wild and wacky busy-ness about the day with little accomplished because of the wacky.

Came home to girls playing on the slip-n-slide.  Fun time!  Crazy hot outside thus making my AC unit in the living room not work well.  Chad decided we would go swim as a family.  WACKY for sure.  But before we took off… I found my cell phone.

Lesson learned on this wacky Wednesday… never let your toddler take your phone when the bathroom door and toilet are both open.  If you know me and want to text me… you can’t right now.  I’m without a phone.

We have been without a fridge since Friday and are going to get one delivered sometime next week.  It is a long story about why we are doing it this way and I will not go into it here.  My dad dropped off a dorm fridge to get us through the week.

So, I am off to run in the morning without my phone (if i wake up without my phone alarm).  Running without my app and without my music will be like the olden days.

No lessons to teach today… just a wacky day and it is now getting late.  So… off I shall go.

Just for Today
1.  Enjoyed dinner this evening with Trevor, Jada and the rest of the family.
2.  Family swim was lovely.
3.  Grateful to have the little dorm fridge.

Onward!

The Way I Live [7-5-12] part 2

The Way I Live my life has been a disaster again…

So, I posted earlier today telling how busy I have been, which is quite true.  Here are a few truths that need to be told to hold me accountable.  Does any of this make a difference to the 10 readers I have?  Who knows, but it makes a difference to me.

Here it goes…

  • haven’t been very good with my vitamins and meds again
  • picked up my z-pack 5 days after I ordered it.  I could have been better by the time I picked it up.
  • i haven’t taken my z-pack pill today… doing that when I finish this post
  • exercising is a good thing but i am frustrated with the results right now
  • my house is a disaster and i would die if most of the world came to my door
  • i am worried the golf tournament is going to fall apart under my command
  • didn’t take my meds today…
  • 5 am hasn’t been half as cool the last week as it was a few weeks ago… i wonder why
  • i haven’t had a Coke in over 2 months… amazed but would totally go drink the one in the van if it weren’t raining… okay maybe not but i know there is one in there.

I ran (or tried tonight).  Worked out first and did 60 squats while holding a 20 pound dumbell so my legs were a bit off for the run.  It was the ‘make up’ run for the one that I did earlier that ‘didn’t count’ because my phone ate the workout.  Anyway, my body was telling me no on the run so I decided to do one of my crazy walk and dance to the tunes for my run.  Then I pushed a button on my phone by accident and had to start over so I ended up walking/running/dancing a little over 3 miles.  Felt good to get back out there and I know for a fact that I can’t skip days.  It just doesn’t feel good to skip and try to start again.

Just for Today
1.  Fridge is not working… grrr…
2.  I will go to bed before midnight.
3.  Lots of golf stuff entered in computer today.
4.  Did my workout… Did my run/walk/dance
5.  Chad’s chicken was delicious
6.  Sarah comes tomorrow to help me take a big big leap… more on that… when I get a chance to share.

The Way I Live [7-5-12]

The Way I Live my life continues to evolve and needs more change but I have to embrace where I am, admit problem areas, and move “Onward!”.

Has anyone out there missed me?  It has been a full week without blogging.  NOT GOOD PEOPLE…. NOT GOOD!

I have been incredibly busy but not so much so that I should let something that could potentially be a key to my change be dropped once again.  So, I say I have been busy but really… is that an excuse.  Yes and no.  I have been thinking about this blog space a bunch all week.  Everyday I come up with the thought for the day that I want to blog about and then I don’t sit down and just plunk out the words.  I should carry a notebook, but it would get lost in the messes that truly are a part of the dysfunction in my life. So… A quick review of what I have been up to this last week.

Last Friday I welcomed three extra kids and a puppy to my house for an all-nighter, movie-marathon, pajama party, sleepover. Jacki and Jason went to a wedding and the kids and puppy stayed here.  We had a great time.  A few nervous kids and super nervous parents, but guess what?  Everyone lived through it.  Thanks Brenda and Nana for the fun and help on Gala Day.  A couple pics from the Slip and Slide action on Friday. (A full post of images will come soon.  Too many to choose from

IMG_0595  A Boy and His Dog

IMG_0598 We even had an extra neighbor.

Saturday was my big 20 year reunion at Rhame Gala Day. I graduated with 11 people in my class.  I saw one classmate at the parade for a few seconds (from across the street) and that was it.  For the evening I was the only one in town that I know of.  My girls loved dancing to the music at the street dance and I had my mom snap this picture of us.

20 Year Reunion Me and Girls Me and My Girlfriends

Sunday… no clue.  I must have stayed home and recovered.  I think Emma went to the farm for a bit on Sunday and Olivia and Chad did a few things.  I had a workout in the afternoon and it was HOT that day.  I absolutely despise heat.  I did go workout.  So that is a good thing.

Monday and Tuesday I worked at Bowman Glass.  I did lots of things I never thought I would do and just pray I did them correctly.  I enjoy my time at the shop and the people I work for are quite amazing.

Tuesday evening we went to Bowman Haley Dam for the fireworks display.  The girls were driving us bonkers but we made it through.

Wednesday (yesterday) we hung out at home and I did a ton of praying.  Chad is a volunteer fireman for Bowman and has been since before we dated.  He was called out to what he believed to be an automobile fire and in reality it was an accident.  Two very different things.  The boys in the accident need prayers and I would ask that anyone with faith in their heart send a few prayers and positive thoughts for those boys.  Also, for the rescuers who found them and the volunteers and emergency staff that worked to help get them to the best place for their care.

We went to watch fireworks on the East side of town on “Old Swimming Pool Road” last night.  My girls had a great time, I think Chad did too.  Sophia took quite a long time to get herself settled down regarding the explosions.  Thanking God that no one was seriously hurt when one of the items tipped over.  Thanks to everyone there for the fun display.  (There was even a fire call in the middle and all the firemen had to leave for a bit).

Leading to today.  I was supposed to go workout at 5 but Sophia was awake and it just doesn’t work to leave her.  Getting ready for a friend to come so she can help me dejunk a bit if it works for her schedule. I pray she can because I want to use her help as a spring board for big changes inside this house.  Working on things for the golf tournament that I am a part of in 2 weeks. You can check out the sponsors and info at www.bowmangolftournament.wordpress.com. It has been fun working with the board members getting this moving again this year.

Just for Today
1.  Happy to have a great place to work.
2.  Happy my family is all safe and healthy.
3.  Blessed to live in a country of many freedoms.

Onward!
